Move Date: Move Time:

Two Months Before
Sort and purge. Go through every room of your house, have a garage sale, donate and or discard things you don't want.
Make an inventory. List your furniture, appliances, boxes etc.
Return and claim. Collect everything you have loaned out and return everything you have borrowed.
Organize school records. Go to your children’s school and arrange for their records to be transferred.
Purchase moving supplies. BOXES and other supplies such as tape, bubble wrap, news print and markers.
Use it or lose it. Start using up things that you don’t want to move, like frozen or perishable foods and cleaning supplies.
Take measurements.  If possible, make su re larger pieces of furniture will fit through the doors and around corners of your new home.

One Month Before

Begin packing. Start packing the things that you use most infrequently or not at all but want to move.
Label. Clearly label each box with its contents and the room it’s destined for.
Separate guns and amo. These may be items you would want to move yourself if possible.
Do a change of address. Go to your local post office and fill out a change-of-address form, or do it online at USPS.GOV
Notify.  Banks Brokerage Firms Employer Credit Cards Gas Phones Cable/Sat. Water Elec. H.O.A.

Two Weeks Before
Arrange to be off from work on moving day. Notify your office that you plan to supervise the move and therefore need the day off.
Tune up. Take your car to a shop, and ask the mechanic to consider what services might be needed if you’re moving to a new climate.
Clean out your safe-deposit box. Only if you are moving out of state or changing banks.
Contact South Coast Movers 281-261-7530. Reconfirm the move date and time, also any updates to your inventory.

One Week Before
Refill prescriptions. Stock up on prescriptions you’ll need during the next couple of weeks.
Pack your suitcases. Aim to finish your general packing a few days before your moving date.

A Few Days Before
Sealed boxes. Make sure your boxes are sealed, taped and ready to move.
Plan for the payment. South Coast Movers will Accept CASH, VISA/MC, DISCOVER, AMEX and check (call for details w/checks).
Rate for tipping. It is appropriate to tip for good service anywhere from 5% to 20% of your total move cost.
Moving Day
Remove pets and toddlers. If possible cage your ANIMALS and have a sitter with the toddlers off site at either location.
Your Move Quote. Have your copy of your move quote handy because that will be of the same list and price quote your movers will go over with you.
Arrival time. Your movers will contact you 1/2hr. prior to their arrival according to your confirmed move time.
Set-ups. If you choose to save money and do your own set-ups (beds, appliances etc) make sure they are done before movers arrive.
Contact cleaning service. Or clean accordingly.
